When visiting North Carolina or Missisippi, it has been advised that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender travelers proceed carefully, as these states have enacted anti-LGBT laws as of late. In particular, LGBT individuals should be more careful in rural areas and avoid public displays of affection.
